Who we are

Brickwoods is a Mixed Day and Boarding (double stream) co-educational school which offers the Competency- Based Curriculum (CBC) system of education. It is a unique school in many ways.

Our setting is strategic in that we face the scenic Mt Kenya. It is serene, private and away from stressful disturbances/obstructions that hinder learning.

Our Journey

The school opened its doors to our pioneer pupils in January 2008 with an initial admission of 24 pupils from baby class to class 5. The school has presented K.C.P.E candidates from 2011 to 2023 which will be the last KCPE class.

    • The school scored high mean scoresĀ  all through the years being placed either position 1 or 2 in Laikipia County.
    • One Douglas Gichohi Maina was placed in the 7th position nationally. He proceeded to Alliance Boys where he garnered an A (83 points) and later graduated from Duke University in North Carolina, USA.

Our Approach

Our students enjoy an exquisite learning environment. This is due to well constructed modern standards learning facilities which create a friendly and conducive learning environment for both girls and boys. We have 4 school buses which go a long way in easing our transport obligations.

In addition to the mandatory school lessons, pupils are offered other life changing skills like:

    • Computer Science, French, Chess, Skating, Piano/Guitar/Drums, Dancing & Tae Kwon Do lessons, exciting Drama, Public Speaking, Talent Shows, Wildlife Club, Scouting, Games and environmental awareness are an integral part of our school’s co-curricular programme

Pupils go for educational school excursions and have visited Lake Bogoria, Parliament, Wilson Airport (where 68 pupils had air experience), Aberdare national park, Mt. Longonot Park, Lake Naivasha, Menengai Crater, KCC factory in Nyahururu, Kariandusi, Mwea Rice Farms, Lewa and Ol Pajeta Conservancy, to mention just a few. The school participates in the County Music Festivals and has competed in several Rugby Tournaments and Red Cross First Aid Drill competitions. Our corporate social responsibility has seen pupils visit Furaha Children’s Home, and Likii & Kanyoni neighboring village communities.

Founders

Mr and Mrs Mathenge saw an opportunity to create a place where children could learn and grow in to all round and able boys and girls. Fueled by this desire to make a difference in the lives of young children, they started Brickwoods Schools and have seen it through the years making a step forward every day.
